„Green Montenegro International Film Fest“ (GMIFF) is conceived as a conceptual film festival with the subject of environment protection, and it will be held in the Center for Culture Danilovgrad from September 20nd to September 23rd of 2016. Second edition of the Festival is being held during the year of a significant celebration - 25th anniversary of Montenegro’s proclamation as an ecological state. This film festival has a tendency to become an integral part of cultural and touristic offer of Danilovgrad and Montenegro.
Program of this year’s Festival entails International and Regional selection, as well as three special programs: 1. Environment protection, 2. Ecology of the soul, and 3. Tourism. Along with the film program, additional ecological and civic activities will be organized, such as film screenings in elementary and high schools and universities, bicycle tours, mountain hikes, open air lectures, regattas on Zeta river, sightseeing tours and many other activities.
The objective of the Festival is to develop and raise awareness of a need for protection and preservation of living environment, through artistic impulse and improvement of knowledge and information pertaining to ecology, as well as introduction to global trends Montenegro is striving for. „Green Montenegro International Film Fest" represents a big step forward on this path.
The audience of Green Montenegro Inernational Film Festa is the one whose arrival on film screenings and the presence of additional ecological and civic activities in the framework of festival activities such as biking tours, hiking tours, lectures, screenings of films in nature, regatta Zeta river, exhibitions, tourist tours etc., is defined as a critical mass, as a group of conscious citizens who openly support the need to preserve the environment by showing willingness to be part of a collective and global action to preserve the planet, which we, as a team, are especially proud of.
